Just as I promised, I will be taking Djembe readers for a week on a journey to Alté music. We have seen these artists on our screens, we follow them on socials, attend their events and even wish them a happy birthday but what exactly is Alté music and how many of our talented artistes in Nigeria produce that genre of music?

First thing you should know is that Alté means ALTERNATIVE and the summary of their movement; details about their movement will be in a magazine. For now, Alté artists seek to express themselves without living in fear of what others might say.

The word “Alté” was first used by DRB Lasgidi members; BOJ and Teezee in their 2014 track, “Paper” ( The ladies like me because I’m an Alté guy). More details about Alté music was considered after Odunsi hit track, “Alté Cruise”

They acknowledge their ability in thinking of ideas, birthing these ideas through their sounds and the visual representation as they take the visuals of their art seriously.

Since Lagos Fashion Week is coming up this Month, it’s only natural for us to acknowledge their talents in music as we are going to see more about their movement in this LFW ‘22 in terms of fashion.

This journey will last for a week; which means from today till next week Wednesday (26/10/22). Expect blog posts on Boj, Cruel Santino(Santi), Odunsi the engine, Brazy, Lady Donli and Zamir. This week is going to be exciting!

Follow us on Instagram , turn on your post notifications for new blog posts updates. Before we call it a day, I have a question; Do you listen to Alté music? Or is this your first time of discovering this genre of music? Kindly tell me in the comments section( you can now leave a comment without logging in (I’m excited as you are). See ya Tomorrow
